01What it is

Cryolipolysis at Sikara uses controlled cooling to crystallise fat cells in a defined area, which the body then clears naturally over the following weeks. Fat cells are more sensitive to cold than the skin and tissue around them, so the fat is targeted while the skin is protected.

It suits people close to their ideal weight with a stubborn pocket that has not responded to diet and exercise, such as the abdomen, flanks, back or under the chin. We do not sell it as weight loss, and it is not suitable in pregnancy, with cold-related conditions such as cold urticaria or Raynaud’s, or with a hernia in the area. Uncommon effects, including temporary firmness or, rarely, an increase in fat in the treated area, are explained at consultation.

02A session, step by step

01

Assess and mark

A doctor examines the area, checks suitability and marks the zone to be treated.

02

Position and protect

A protective pad and applicator are placed on the skin, and a gentle vacuum draws the fold into place.

03

Cool and monitor

The area is cooled for a set time under watch. A pulling, cold sensation passes within minutes as the area numbs.

04

Massage and review

The area is massaged to help the effect, and the doctor advises on timing for any further session.

03Aftercare

  • Redness, numbness and tenderness in the treated area are common and settle over days to a few weeks.
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms and hot baths for 48 hours.
  • Wear loose clothing and stay active. Walking is fine straight away.
  • Results build over 8 to 12 weeks, so judge the change after that, not before.
  • Call us for severe pain, or for swelling or a hard area that has not eased after a few weeks

Following the aftercare is part of the treatment. The outcome depends on it as much as on the sittings themselves.
