01What it is

EMSculpt Muscle Toning at Sikara uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy to make a muscle contract far more strongly than voluntary exercise can, thousands of times in a single sitting. Over a course, the muscle is strengthened and firmed, and the layer of fat over it often reduces, which gives the area a more defined shape.

It is used on the abdomen and buttocks [add arms or thighs if treated], and it suits people near their ideal weight who want a firmer, better-defined area, especially where exercise alone has not delivered it. Following an assessment of your goals, body type and medical history, the dermatologist plans the area, the intensity and the number of sittings for you.

It is not a weight loss treatment, and it is not suitable in pregnancy, with a pacemaker or other electronic implant, or with metal implants in the area. Your doctor will check this before the first sitting.

02A session, step by step

01

Assess and mark

A dermatologist checks your goals and medical history, examines the area and marks the muscle to be treated.

02

Position and strap

The applicator is secured over the muscle. No gel, needles or incisions are used.

03

Build and contract

The level is raised in steps until the muscle contracts strongly. It feels like a very hard workout, and the intensity is set to what you can comfortably tolerate.

04

Review and schedule

The doctor checks how you tolerated it, adjusts the settings and books the next sitting.

03Aftercare

  • Muscle soreness for a day or two is normal, like after a hard workout.
  • Drink plenty of water and eat enough protein in the 24 hours after each sitting.
  • Light activity is fine, and you can return to your day straight away.
  • Keep up regular exercise and a balanced diet, as results fade without them.
  • Call us if soreness is severe or lasts more than a few days.

Following the aftercare is part of the treatment. The outcome depends on it as much as on the sittings themselves.
